"The ordered intermingling of the real and the dream,-
The mill above the river,
and the mist above the stream;
The life of ceaseless labor,
brave with song and cheery call-
The radiant skies of evening,
with its rainbow o'er us all."
- James Whitcomb Riley (C) 1888
~Indian Head Cent~
Most don’t realize that the image on this incredible coin was modeled after the Greco-roman Statue of the Goddess Venus Accroupie & adorned in a Native American headdress of eagle feathers. Things are not always what they seem, a second look or deeper study can often reveal an unexpected truth & a deeper understanding.
Worshiped as a God and mother to all planets, the sun is the reason our planet came to be. One cannot take its overwhelming influence for granted. The sun gives us light, warmth, seasons, energy, the aurora borealis, pink and orange sunsets or sunrises, our summer suntanandour direction home. We are all made of elements made in the nuclear furnace of a star, expelled into space in its death rattle known as a super nova, we are literally made of stardust. 1888 feels an interesting kindred to the sun symbol for this reason. The sun does give us life, and we are made of materials formed in a star, but we are not made of the materials formed in our star….kinda levels the playing field doesn’t it?
