~Money Clip~

There was a successful patent submitted to the Philadelphia patent office in 1901 for what would be the first official money clip design. It was submitted by Benso G. Deovich as a means of carrying paper money in your pocket without it tearing. Money clips of a sort have been used as far back as ancient Mesopotamia to detail the storage of grain and the 300 CE Japan to detail rice storage notes. Today, money clips are a status symbol giving their owners a more sophisticated appearance when making a purchase. Instead of pulling out a wad of crumpled cash or a weathered and overstuffed wallet, a nicely folded stack of bills in a clip made of a precious metal like gold or silver, gives the appearance of wealth and sophistication.

~Brothel Tokens~

Coin collectors sometimes refer to these usually brass coins as “Fantasy Brothel Tokens” because in reality, these were only in circulation as a means to lure young men inside the brothels where at that point the tokens were pretty much only good for a laugh. Once inside the would-be patrons would then be treated the same as any that arrived without a token in hand. Although the morally polarizing services promised on these tokens can evoke hot debate amongst people of opposing opinions, they can be undeniably comical in terms of their stamped verbiage. The proprietors almost always had a quirky name and the services promised, seem straight out of an old western movie. These coins do seem to create a nostalgia for a bygone time that was truly different yet in some ways very much the same as the present. Tokens for brothels have been issued since Roman times, perhaps even before. Whatever your feelings on the history of such artifacts may be, their role in history's story regarding what some call the world’s oldest profession and human nature is undeniable.

Horseshoes have been a classic symbol for good luck for centuries not only in the western world, but in different civilizations all over the globe. The Chinese saw its long, curved body style similar to that of Nagendra- the sacred snake. The Turks associated its shape with the crescent moon, the symbol of Isis and their beloved country. The Romans saw it as a symbol of luck within the military, as the tired soldiers got a break from marching on foot when an officer brought the men to a halt if a horseshoe was lost from their horse.

After each artifact or specimen has been discovered it is sent through a careful restoration process before being used in a design. If a particularly unique patina is found to add design value to an artifact, it's preserved & sealed to ensure its longevity & protection.
