This Queen Juliana coin from the Netherlands features two orange branches above the denomination and date, 1975. The coin's unique patina paired with our hand-made hammered brass pendant setting makes for a "lost treasure" kind of look, especially partnered with the copper feather component carefully salvaged from a broken brooch. This coin and feather design is a warm and inviting, mixed-metal, everyday kind of wearer and is strung on a 21" brass ladder chain.

After each artifact or specimen has been discovered it is sent through a careful restoration process before being used in a design. If a particularly unique patina is found to add design value to an artifact, it is preserved and/or sealed to ensure its longevity and protection. Each and every item is made by hand by owners Nathan and Ali, therefore, some small imperfections or variations may be present in your design. Coins

Coins have been around for millennia as currency but what they mean to us is so much more. From the very beginning peoples have been stamping them with the images and symbols that represent the most important aspects of their cultures and heritages. These little treasures, most made of precious metals, take on a life of their own as they are passed from person to person while journeying throughout the world. They carry with them ideas and images of far-off places to new lands and new peoples. One can often feel the energy or wu in many coins, especially those that have been traveling for hundreds or even thousands of years. A coin’s patina, scratches and wear often add artistic value showcasing its long history. The concept of money has value far beyond the stamped denominations on a coin or bill. Money represents the countless possibilities one can add to their life by having this tool in surplus. Having this tool is a necessary part of life and building positive associations with our currencies can assist us in building a beautiful life.

Feather

Mother always said that if you find a feather it’s a symbol that you are on your true path- that you should pick it up and keep it for luck on your journey. Feathers have commonly represented everything from the center of the cosmos to good luck. Used in countless cultures around the globe for rituals and ceremonies, as a status symbol, or even a plain ol' writing tool. The feather can also be a potent symbol of versatility. The Navajo tribe used hawk and eagle feathers to make their famous headdress of feathers. Only warriors who had displayed extraordinary bravery were allowed to wear it. In the stories created by our jewelry, 1888's feathers represent freedom and the need to soar towards passion. Oh, and a little good luck never hurts.

Can I resize this item?

If a product page does not have a drop down option for size selections, or if the product description does not state a need for the customer to input their desired size in the notes section of their purchase, then we are NOT able to resize the item. Some exceptions can be made with chain lengths. Please reach out to us at inspire@1888design.com and we will try to accommodate as best we can.

Are your earrings hypoallergenic?

All earring posts are made out of sterling silver, stainless steel, or brass metals unless otherwise stated in the product description. Sterling silver and stainless steel are both hypoallergenic metals. Brass can react differently among different skin types, so we advise knowing your body's tolerance to brass prior to purchasing earrings with brass ear posts. Again, all metals used are stated in each product's description tab.

Can I order this as a gift?

Yes! Please leave us a note at checkout stating that this order is a gift along with the name of the recipient so we can address them properly in the packaging.
