This 1888 Design is a:

One of a Kind

Reimagined Components: A vintage "Amateur Roller Skating Association" proficiency copper medal, humorously adorned with an eagle riding a skate board. The back side of the medal has a beautiful patina that we preserved with the word "DANCE" etched on it. The medal is paired with a vintage roller skate key tool which was used on old-fashioned roller skates to tighten the wheels and adjust its length. The design is strung on a 21'' 3mm gunmetal box chain.

Components Found in: Bisbee AZ & Quartzsite AZ

1888's Take:

~Roller Skating~

Shockingly, the history of roller skating dates all the way back to the 1700s. The first ever appearance of a mechanism that was similar to the roller skate we know of today was made in 1743 during a stage performance in London. 17 years later in 1760, the first inline skates were invented by John Joseph Merlin, though it took about 100 years for the activity to gain any popularity due to their slow evolution of comfort and functionality. In 1857 the first public rinks were officially opened in London and made their way to America in the 1880s, and their interest and design improvements only went up from there.

After each artifact or specimen has been discovered it is sent through a careful restoration process before being used in a design. If a particularly unique patina is found to add design value to an artifact, it's preserved & sealed to ensure its longevity & protection.
