This 1888 Design is a:

One of a Kind

Reimagined Components: This unmarked silver plate eagle, turquoise and red coral bolo remake hangs perfectly over the sternum with a weight you can feel. Something we love at 1888 Design. The bolo slide attachment on the backside was broken off, so we smoothed the scar and drilled our own holes on either side to turn into a pendant that resembles the same beauty that was found in the original bolo design. The turquoise stone has a spray of matrix visible that is reminiscent of islands floating in the sea. The pendant hangs on 22" 3mm gunmetal-plated box chain. The pendant itself measures 2.5 inches tall and 2 inches wide.

Components Found in: Quartzsite AZ

1888's Take: "There are some objects that hold the memories of their past more strongly than others. When I pick this piece up its history speaks loudly to me...what I feel is that it has traveled a great distance, was made by someone who loved what they do, and that it has much farther to go."

 ~Turquoise~

For thousands of years, turquoise has been prized as a symbol of wisdom, nobility, and immortality. In many Native American cultures, it represents the great spirit in the sky and is often referred to as the Sky Stone. It’s believed that if a crack forms in the stone, it has taken the injury for its wearer.

~Red Coral~

This beautifully natural and oceanic material is known to help promote transformation and well-being.

~Eagle~

During my time in Nashville I lived in a red brick building that had a balcony that overlooked a field which as of late hadn’t been touched by industry…I drank my coffee and starred off watching the field mice dart from one bush to another. I recall narrowing in on one particularly mouse thinking about how it was just living its little mouse life when a great eagle dove with unbelievable speed out of the tallest tree surrounding the field and tackled the mouse…The eagle rolled once on the ground the mouse spinning with the bird while trapped in its talon’s. The eagle flapped twice hard and was back in the air. I watched as if glided gracefully over the summer breeze and landed back in the same branch from where it had launched its stealthy attack…I watched as it ate its breakfast and was reminded of the uncertainty of life and that without warning everything can change. But I was also proud of the eagle for showing me how to survive, how to take only what is needed and not prolong suffering. It was over in an instant and life went on…
