This 1888 Design is a:
One of a Kind
Reimagined Components: A stunning sterling silver opal orphan earring component pairs beautifully in design and conception with this small rock hammer and sterling silver leaf backer. The rock hammer very much could have been the exact tool to unearth this marvelous opal stone, and the fact the we could pair them together in a design to showcase a beautiful story of origin, appreciation, and love of the process- feels very, very special to us. The design hangs on a 22'' gun-metal plated rounded box chain.
Components Found in: Nashville TN & East Calais VT
~Opal~
Some compare the opal’s brilliant flash to that of lightning in a rainbow. In the ancient world many saw this gem as the most bewitching and mysterious gem of all. Opal is a mineral of inspiration which enhances imagination and creativity, while bringing forth optimism and enthusiasm. It is often seen as a great protective stone during times of meditation, inner work, and other spiritual journeys.
~Rock Hammer~
The beloved tool of both the amateur and professional geologists and mineral hunting adventurers alike. With a chisel on one end and a hammer on the other, it is the one tool any mineral lover could never be without.
~Leaf~
I have vivid recollections of the fiery orange ambers and gradient reds blanketing the mountain terrain around my Vermont home. They were sure to inspire my seasonally wild imaginings as I watched the foliage dance with one another in the wind. When my eyes had had their fill, I'd close them tightly to shut out the pulsing array of mountain fire... that way I could focus on the unique rustling the leaves made as they clung to their last few moments of connection to their parent tree. These fragile creations of nature represent unconditional giving and unassuming strength through the cycle’s seasonal rebirth. Luck is also an appropriate association because to be a leaf is to be lucky enough to know purpose without question. It is also said that if you catch a leaf on its fall from tree to ground, you will have good luck.
After each artifact or specimen has been discovered it is sent through a careful restoration process before being used in a design. If a particularly unique patina is found to add design value to an artifact, it's preserved & sealed to ensure its longevity & protection.
