The human hand is absolutely jam-packed with nerves giving it the ability to feel the slightest of sensations. If a person is blind, the hands can serve as a substitute for creating a mental map of the shape and constitution of an object through touch. Often the first point of contact between new lovers, friends and even strangers during a first meetings handshake. When hands embrace or fingers interlock, there is an (almost) uniquely human bond made that resonates throughout our entire being. Hold someone's hand and you could turn their day around, give comfort in a time of need, or simply remind them they are not alone. Think of all that can be accomplished with our opposable thumbs and fragile digits. Our entire world is built using our hands- making them a symbol of creation, humanity, ingenuity and resilience.
A symbol of give and take. You’re either wearing them or putting them on in this life. There can be lessons to either position. I know that I have learned a lot in positions of relinquished control… metaphorically speaking of course… but the taking of control can also be empowering. Allow these to remind you to neither think of yourself as too small nor let your ego get the best of you. As we all take our turns undulating in and out of these positions of control, and being controlled.
