1888's Take: A recent concept that Nathan and I have come to realize is that working alone on all aspects of life is often limiting, exhausting, and even counterproductive. Coming together with a partner has taught us to keep an open mind to each other's ideas, to get double the amount of work done on a single project, to take more moments to ourselves to pull back and recharge without guilt, and to appreciate the precious value of having someone there with you at your side. As some might say, teamwork makes the dream work!
Many ancient civilizations including the Egyptians, Greeks, and Romans saw bees as a potent symbol of royalty, status, and even immortality/resurrection, depicting numerous Gods and Goddesses being resurrected as bees and adorning their leaders with bee-like jewelry. Today, we commonly associate bees with the characteristics of community, hard work, and devotion to your role in life. While all of these tributes hold true to these interesting insects, the most important lesson we want to take away from bees is their unfathomable importance in keeping our planet and all its inhabitants alive. It’s at times hard to understand that level of power and purpose when looking at just one bee, but we must remember that it takes an entire army of all those individual bees to carry such an effect on the world. This is important to reflect upon because we often forget about this concept with our own selves. We think it seems impossible to make any sort of real change while being just one person amongst a sea of others. But finding that community, coming together all as nothing but a million individuals, can we remember that it all started with just one bee.
