The name comes from the Koine Greek amethystos "not" and methysko "intoxicate". Traditionally worn to guard against drunkenness and restore a sober mind. The amethyst stone is well-known to aid the Third Eye, otherwise known as the Anja chakra, granting clear, intuitive insight and inner peace.
A polymorph of pyrite, this stone is loved for its iridescent, metallic sheen. It’s not only beautiful but will actually spark when struck by iron or flint. Thought to aid in focus and strengthen one’s cognitive abilities, this stone is worn to help push its wearer over the proverbial finish line.
~1888’s Found Treasures~
In keeping with 1888’s company mission to educate and preserve vintage & antique historical works, we occasionally decide that some things are better left as they are!
After each artifact or specimen has been discovered it is sent through a careful restoration process before being used in a design. If a particularly unique patina is found to add design value to an artifact, it's preserved & sealed to ensure its longevity & protection.
