Reimagined Components: Vintage watch bezel with vintage orange glass cameo victorian style woman buried in a bath of hand crushed pyrite crystal strung on a 23" 3mm gun metal box chain.
1888's Take: "Buried amongst a bath of golden reflections she waits... patient and watching... careful in her choosing..."
A stone of action, vitality and will, Pyrite taps into one’s abilities and potential while stimulating the flow of ideas. It brings confidence and the persistence to carry things through to completion.
In the Ancient world & Renaissance era, cameos were made from semi-precious gemstones especially the various types of onyx and agate or any other stone that has a flat plane with two contrasting colors.
Victorian Cameos were a revival of Ancient & Renaissance versions. In Britain, this revival first occurred during King George III’s reign, & his granddaughter, Queen Victoria was a major proponent of the cameo trend, to the extent that they would become mass-produced by the second half of the 19th century.
