~Scottish Brasses~

Scottish Brasses were worn by horses to ward off the evil eye. It was believed that only the first glance of the evil eye was the most powerful so the distracting shine of the brass would save the horse from malevolent forces. Horses were believed to be particularly sensitive to the spirit world so they were often adorned with up to a dozen of these amulets of protection. Common symbols like the fox, phoenix, thistle flower or family-related images were used doubling their protective nature and relation to the horse's owners. There were 3000-year-old brasses unearthed from a bronze age construction site attached to a horse harness in Edinburgh Scotland speaking to the long and rich history of these treasures. ~

~Swan~

Most commonly seen as a symbol of love and devotion these birds have a powerful avian spirit. As they float peacefully on the water's surface one can see how they represent peace and contentment but don’t be fooled, they are fierce protectors of their young and would defend them against anything. They have been seen as shape-shifting spirits in some cultures but in general, they are seen as a good omen.
